Abstract
In this paper, an efficient amplitude encoding scheme for time domain reverse time migration is presented. This scheme uses the orthogonal cosine basis as coding function. Similar to plane wave encoding, the physical meaning of this method is straightforward. This scheme can generate quality imaging result as common shot RTM but is more efficient and flexible than common shot RTM. Comparing to phase encoding based schemes, this scheme is easier to form super-shot in time domain. And phase encoding schemes is related to time shift, therefore RTM based on phase encoding scheme need time padding to avoid information loss which degrades efficiency. The proposed scheme does not need time padding.
Therefore it is more efficient than phase encoding based method, such as plane wave encoding and random phase encoding. Numerical examples demonstrate the feasibility of this method.
