Abstract
Limited by the bandwidth of the wavelet, prestack seismic inversion is ill-posed as well as poststack inversion. Some prior constraints are helpful to guide the solution. However, prior information is not necessarily provided or met in practice. Thus it is important to relax constraints of inversion. In this study, the amplitude and phase estimation of a sinusoid (APES) is used in prestack inversion. As a matched filter bank approach, APES designs an adaptive filter for every time of interest and estimates the amplitude of this time location. For prestack inversion, the amplitude of reflectivity consists of two or three AVO parameters according to the different forward equation. Thus prestack inversion is over-determined at any time location. Furthermore, the stability of inversion is improved, as shown by numerical examples.
