Abstract
All complex trace attributes that involve differentiation may generate spikes. These spikes are mainly caused by destructive reflection interference, discontinuities, and noise. Researchers for quantitative interpretation remove these spikes, but in qualitative interpretation, spikes can be used as stratigraphic and structural markers.Relative amplitude change is one of these complex seismic trace attributes that can identify faults and other discontinuities.
