Abstract
The evaluation of a formation when drilling a well is based on the joint analysis of log data, geological core description and petrophysical measurements. The first and the latter yield solely numbers, while the geologist may also include qualitative statements of the formation in question. In a laboratory for exploration and production the geological interpretation can be supported by analyzing the routine core analysis data with statistical tools.
