P298 The spectrum of the spectrum: estimating bed thickness with cepstral decomposition Abstract 1 This paper shows that the Fourier transform of the amplitude spectrum of a seismic trace can provide an accurate measure of bedding thickness in the subsurface. Given the recent emergence of spectral decomposition as a widespread seismic interpretation tool this related technique could help reduce uncertainty because it is a robust way to extract quantitative information from the amplitude spectrum.
