Abstract
The Pliocene Productive Series (PS) of the South Caspian Basin (SCB) records a major lowstand relative to pre-existing Miocene and subsequent Pleistocene and Holocene shelf margins. The PS records greater than 2 million years of relatively continuous deposition of lacustrine sediments in the Caspian.
