Abstract
A remote sensing based 3-D study applied to the Khorramabad anticline is presented. The Khorramabad anticline is a structure located along the northern boundary of the Zagros Simply Folded Belt in the SW Iran. Some authors have proposed an early stage of fold growth for this anticline which could have started in the Late Cretaceous. By means of analysis of satellite images and digital elevation data together with the use of the 1:100,000 scale geological maps of the area, we have constructed simple 3-D surfaces to illustrate the main unconformities present in the northeastern limb of the anticline. This work has helped in selecting key spots where a dating campaign can provide the data to constrain the timing of the deformation in the area.
