Abstract

Environmental geophysics is often limited to surveying and “anomaly-picking” or
performed as an add-on to other environmental investigation techniques. By combining
ground and airborne radiometric data with the geochemical, geographic, hydrologic and
radiation protection results, an improved understanding of the environmental
contamination processes in the vicinity of gold/uranium mining and processing
operations can be obtained. This information can form the basis for hazard and risk
assessment studies.
