Abstract
This study is based on the use of methods of ultrasonic velocity measurements which is one of the non-destructive measurements techniques for defining the building quality and Schmidt hammer together. It was tried to define the strength and internal structure of columns by various ultrasonic velocity measurements in old and new buildings. The velocity distribution maps were derived from obtained ultrasonic velocity measurements. The method was used together with the well-known Schmidt hammer applications and the results, obtained from applications, correlated. As a result of these correlations, it was seen that the velocity distribution is almost consistent with Schmidt hammer values. It was determined that both old and new columns have problem from the analysis of velocity distribution and Schmidt hammer taken for evaluation. For this reason, old and new columns have to be reinforced.
