Abstract
Microseismic monitoring of cyclic steaming is an application that is employed to ensure integrity of caprock and casing, for safe and efficient operations, but also to track the progress of the steam front as it progresses through the formation. Because the heat and pressure induced by the injection deforms the media significantly, locating the resulting microseismicity offers avenues to assess the efficiency of the injection by identifying where in the reservoir is being efficiently steam, and where may need to be targeted for restimulation. We discuss the application of microseismic monitoring over several years in Peace River, Canada to illustrate these concepts.
