Abstract

Summary

Fracture prediction based on P-wave anisotropy has now been widely used. But there is few systematic comparison and analysis about the anisotropy of different seismic attributes, such as travel time, interval travel time, amplitude and AVO gradient. In this paper, based on wide azimuthal seismic data, we analyzed the distribution law and accuracy of fracture predicted by azimuthal anisotropy of different attributes. Research shows that anisotropy of AVO gradient and interval time have higher accuracy in fracture prediction while anisotropy of travel time and amplitude have advantage of characterizing distribution laws of fracture. Finally, we prefer beneficial attributes and merge the corresponding anisotropy by method of principal component analysis and the result improves the effect of fracture comprehensive characterization. The final predicted fractures nearly match with well’s cumulative production, which could guide the deployment of wells.
