Decomposing Pressure Models into Global and Local Domains as Input to Primary Migration Studies

A new approach to pressure modelling proposes to decompose full 3D pressures models into global and a local domains. The local domains use the overpressures from the global solution as boundary conditions. The resolution of the local domain problem can be increased and result in pressure solutions at the 1 meter scale. With this resolution, it can be used as input to primary migration analyses and give very accurate assessments of the direction of hydrocarbon migration, upwards or downwards.
