Abstract

Summary

This paper deals with the retrieving of the propagation velocity of the waves in the soil, making use of the diffraction curves present in common offset GPR data. The objective is to provide a global semi-heuristic analysis of the data able to mitigate the problem of the size of the targets that generate the diffraction curves. In particular, we propose a method where the buried targets are not a-priori assumed to be pointlike.

The analysis has been validated on real data gathered in the field on tree roots, and the method has been implemented making use of a commercial code.
