Abstract

Summary

We propose a multiparameter inversion method for VTI medium based on the dip-oriented imaging method. By virtue of previous studies on the reflection coefficient for VTI medium, we derive the gradients for VTI anisotropic parameters. To eliminate the cross-talk artifacts between different parameters, we analyze the data dependency on the parameters through their radiation patterns and find the optimal parameterization. We extend the prestack time-domain migration image in the incident angle dimension in order to distinguish the parameters’ contributions to the waveform of the recorded data. For simple models, It is an efficient and stable way to do FWI or modified seismic inversion and makes the anisotropic inversion more practicable. Results with synthetic data illustrate the benefits and limitations of this method.
