Abstract

Summary

So as to resolve the problem related to earthquake location, a fuzzy logic algorithm proposed by was used to increase the stability in locating regional earthquakes. In order to test the efficiency of the earthquake location method on real data, beside the synthetic data, offshore earthquakes were selected from those that occurred in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. This method works particularly well for such regional earthquakes with a larger azimuthal gap according to seismograph geometry, even with a few phase readings.
