Abstract

In 1973 the UK government published the first Brown Book on the state of the then new UK offshore oil industry. At that time, oil companies were anxious about the fiscal regime likely to be adopted by the government and oil price levels were a concern. Andrew McBarnet reviews the parallels with today.
