Abstract

This paper describes the procedure adopted by the Swiss Geophysical Commission in reducing the effects of topography on airborne gamma-ray speetrometry measurements. The influence of topographic irregularities on the gamma-ray field has been modelled in both two and three dimensions. The calculations have shown that the influence of topography cannot be neglected in regions of rugged topography such as the Swiss Alps. It is shown that these effects can be corrected adequately in most practical circumstances with a procedure based on model calculations.
