Abstract

A general method for calculating the electromagnetic fields due to either a magnetic or electric dipole buried in an N-layered conducting medium is presented. Both vertical and horizontal dipoles are treated. The resulting formulae may be applied regardless of the location of the source or the number of homogeneous horizontal layers.
