Abstract

Computer programs have been written for the processing and plotting of seismic refraction data. The processing sequence is divided into three stages. The first picks first arrival times from digitally recorded field data and makes up hole and reciprocal time corrections; the second calculates and plots the velocity analysis and time depth terms needed for an interpretation using the Generalised Reciprocal Method; the third calculates and plots a migrated depth section. The computer methods allow field data to be reduced about five times more quickly than by manual methods and with an increased accuracy.
