Abstract

A gradient array electrical induced polarisation survey carried out in 1973 over two elongate north-east south-west trending geochemical anomalies, defined a small but definite electrical induced polarisation anomaly associated but not coincident with, the north-eastern anomaly. Schlumberger soundings confirmed the interest of the northern anomaly which was estimated to be at a source depth of 85 metres. Subsequent diamond drilling under this response revealed the source to be associated with the Elura ore body. A lack of any EIP response over the southern geochemical high either in the gradient or Schlumberger arrays down-graded that response. A one day time domain magnetic induced polarisation test survey carried out soon after the discovery, defined a 'head and shoulders' magnetic induced polarisation anomaly associated with the Elura body.
