Down-hole electromagnetic surveys have been used in the vicinity of the Renison mine to explore for further lodes of cassiterite-bearing pyrrhotite at depths approaching 1 km. Surveys down one hole have located a significant off-hole conductor. A simple current filament model does not adequately describe the behaviour of the response from this conductor. The effects of other conductors above and about the target body are suggested as possible causes for the complexity in the data. They may also be responsible for the first of two changes of sign with time.
