Abstract

The magnitude, as well as the direction of the primary field from a transmitter loop must be considered when estimating the position of maximum coupling between the transmitter and a conductive target. In the case of dipping conductors, maximum coupling is achieved by placing the transmitter loop on the hanging wall side of the target where maximum coupling occurs almost directly under the leading edge of the loop.
