Abstract

The results of gravity surveys are usually interpreted by so-called 'forward-modelling' techniques, in which the gravity fields which would be produced by simplified models of the supposed geology are calculated. These fields can then be compared with those actually observed and the models can be adjusted accordingly. Very commonly, the bodies making up the modeIs are defined as striking at right angles to the profiles being interpreted and as having constant polygonal cross-sections,
