Abstract

The use of spatially distributed arrays of energy sources is a well-developed technique of exploration seismology. The principal advantages of such arrays over point sources are that the outgoing energy pulse may be shaped by using arrayelements with different characteristics and that the geometrical configuration may be adjusted to manipulate the interference effects between the array elements, at seismic frequencies.
