Abstract
It has become increasingly important to develop geophysical techniques capable of determining the lithology and rock properties of reservoir formations to help in field development and production decisions. Natural micro-fractures have been shown to be important in the development of those hydrocarbon reservoirs in which fracture alignment controls the production. Such orientated fractures cause the rock formation to be anisotropic, which affects propagation of the seismic waves.
