Abstract

The area studied is situated in Western Slovakia. It belongs to a 'non-traditional' region for hydrocarbon exploration and represents the northern margin of the Danube Basin and adjacent folded Inner West Carpathians. The presence of gas and oil shows in wells drilled mainly for geothermal and coal exploration and for regional geological information was the impetus for this study. .
