Abstract

This article deals with the recent development of permanent downhole geophones and their use for both passive and active monitoring of an underground gas storage reservoir. This was part of a joint research project in which Compagnie Générale de Géophysique (CGG), ELF Aquitaine Production (EAP), Gaz de France (GDF), Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP) and TOTAL were associated. The aim of this project was to develop and test 3-component permanent sensors.
