Abstract

The need for finer spatial sampling and larger offsets in seismic acquisition can be attributed to the maturation of producing basins worldwide. As shallow production wanes, deeper pools are often sought after, to extend the worth of existing concessions and to capitalize on existing production infrastructures. More channels and larger offsets directly improve signal-to-noise ratios and permit better separation between primary reflection events and multiples.
