A frequently encountered problem is the lack of reliable elevation data for sources and receivers. In this work, we propose a simple method to reconstruct the elevation data for each seismic trace for a given dataset using freely available information. Such reconstruction enables all subsequent processing steps to be carried out in a proper way. As a proof of concept, we applied this methodology to a 30-year-old dataset from Parnaíba Basin, Brazil, and compared with refraction and residual statics results obtained with the elevation data recorded in the original seismic file header. The proposed method outperformed the original elevation results, being able to increase image quality and signal-to-noise ratio.", }
