Albania, the small country in the western Balkan, is a disaster-prone country. Located next to the most active fault in Albania, the main cities of the country have experienced seventeen (17) seismic events with magnitude from 5.4 to 6.6 in the last 114 years.

The last earthquakes that hit Albania on September 21st, 2019 of Mw 5.4 and November 26th, 2019 of Mw 6.2 severely damaged the cities of Durrës, Thumanë, Tirana, Vora, Shijak and the villages around. The aim of this paper is to highlight the indispensable significance of the geophysical and engineering-geological surveys, together with the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the local subsoil, for an effective and successful earthquake emergency response plan.

The extended abstract describes the results of a four step multidisciplinary research activity that integrated the existing geophysical and geotechnical data with original geophysical and engineering-geological surveys to obtain the integrated subsoil model of the historical centre of the Tirana city, the capital of Albania. A very first earthquake emergency response plan of the historical centre of the city was obtained using the combination of the integrated subsoil model and the Limit Condition in Emergency study.
