High Resolution Reflection Seimics on a tidal flat in the Dutch Delta-acquisition, processing and interpretation
Authors J.C. Doornenbal and K. HelbigThe survey we describe here was to serve a double purpose. On the one hand to contribute to a study of the depositional history of shallow sediments in south-west Netherlands. As far as this objective is concerned, the survey was a direct continuation of one started by M. A. Herber and J. Runia in 1977 (see Herber, Runia and Helbig 1981). On the other hand the survey was intended to provide hands-on experience in all phases of a reflection seismic survey for the thirty-odd participants in the course called 'Seisrnic Exploration' at Utrecht University.

The Structure and Dynamics of Continental Crust: The French ECORS Programme
Authors C. Bois and C.J. AllegreThe continental crust has not been thoroughly studied in France. Refraction and wide-angle seismic experiments have only been carried out in the south and the east of the country. The need for more thorough studies is acknowledged by both academie and petroleum geologists. For implementing these studies, the ECORS programme was set up and a detailed proposal was prepared in 1982. 1350 km of land seismic and 2090 km of marine seismic were planned across the main geological features of France and its adjacent marine areas. Such a study will not only bring new data on France's geology but also contribute to the elucidation of some of the fundamental mechanisms of the Earth geodynamics. Both reflection and refraction methods will be used in the surveys, which should start in 1983 with a line across the Paris basin.
