Signatures from clustered airguns
Authors S. Strandenes and S. VaageDuring the last five years, increasing effort has been spent on the design of high-quality, reliable marine seismic sources. In particular, cluster configurations are now widely used in the seismic industry. We have chosen to define a cluster as follows: 'A gun configuration where interaction effects are deliberately used to improve the signature characteristics'. A typical example of the improvement that can be obtained by proper clustering of the guns is shown in Fig. 1. The signal is obtained from a symmetrical two gun cluster, and superimposed on the plot is the corresponding signature resulting from the same configuration when the two guns are not interacting (infinite separation distance).

Application of model-based transformation for seismic interpretational analysis
By O.E. NæssA new method for seismic interpretational analysis is proposed. The method is based on the model-based transformation (MBT) described by Nass (1989). This transformation was originally proposed as a useful tooI for noise analysis and for improving signal-to-noise ratio on common midpoint (CMP) data. The latter was achieved by optimized muting applied to traces of transformed CMP gathers. In this paper a different application of MBT for detailed seismic interpretational analysis will be discussed and demonstrated using field data examples.
