Microseismic surveying and repeated VSPs for monitoring an underground gas storage reservoir using permanent geophones
Authors J.P. Deflandre, J. Laurent, D. Michon and E. BlondinThis article deals with the recent development of permanent downhole geophones and their use for both passive and active monitoring of an underground gas storage reservoir. This was part of a joint research project in which Compagnie Générale de Géophysique (CGG), ELF Aquitaine Production (EAP), Gaz de France (GDF), Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP) and TOTAL were associated. The aim of this project was to develop and test 3-component permanent sensors.

Improved mature field development with 3D/AVO technology
By C.P. RossWhether one is examining a 3D survey for exploration or development purposes, it is always advantageous to enlist tools that may help reduce risk involved in the evaluation and drilling process, including tools which can help to differentiate hydrocarbon-charged reservoirs from water-filled reservoirs.
