A new high-resolution multi-channel hydrophone streamer array

OgilvieIn order to produce better high-resolution data, Gardline have developed and improved some of the systems in their use to produce an integrated digital system for the geophysical investigation of the top few hundred milliseconds below seabed. For offshore platform sites and other locations where shallow faulting, cut valleys and geological phenomena gene rally can cause drilling difficulties, this tool is meant for use in conjunction with conventional ultra-high-resolution analogue systems.

Location of dykes in coalfield exploration

EmsleyThe best geophysical technique for locating dykes of hard, igneous rock cutting coal measures is to measure and model their associated magnetic anomalies. Using data obtained with a proton magnetometer, we have investigated the geometry of two dykes in the Northumberland coalfield of northern England, the Causey Park dyke of Carboniferous age and the Acklington dyke of Tertiary age.
