Case histories of LOTEM surveys in hydrocarbon prospective area
Authors K.-M Strack, T. Hanstein, K. LeBrocq, D.C. Moss, K. Vozoff and P.A. WolfgramDuring the past two decades electromagnetic exploration methods have been used where reflection seismology has had problems, notably in are as of crystalline overthrust and volcanic cover. We have applied the long-offset transient electromagnetic (LOTEM) method in hydrocarbon prospective areas during test surveys in Europe and Australia. Using both electric and magnetic field transient data, the resistive and conductive parts of the geoelectric section and some structural features were resolved.

Vibrator sweeps in a restricted environment
By P.J. StanleyWhen carrying out Vibroseis surveys in noisy areas, where output is restricted by risk of damage to the roadway, adjacent services or buildings, it is possible to improve signal-to-noise ratio very substantialIy, or to reduce cost, by employing heavy vibrators and restricting their output only at lower and middle frequencies.
