Wave equation migration: two approaches
More LessThis paper introduces the notion of an anticipation component to scientific publishing in that it references work done after it was written in 1976. The reason is that in those far-off pre-word-processor days in the early dawn of the junk mail era, we were both somewhat dilatory about writing anything up and the paper led a ghostly existence as an Offshore Technology Conference preprint in the twilight zone somewhere between the spoken and the published word.

Investigation of azimuthal anisotropy from offset VSP data - a case study
More LessIt has become increasingly important to develop geophysical techniques capable of determining the lithology and rock properties of reservoir formations to help in field development and production decisions. Natural micro-fractures have been shown to be important in the development of those hydrocarbon reservoirs in which fracture alignment controls the production. Such orientated fractures cause the rock formation to be anisotropic, which affects propagation of the seismic waves.
