Hydrocarbon plays in Mesozic nappes, Tertiary wrench basins and interior sags in the Pannonian Basin
Authors J. Kókai and Gy. PogácsásOver the last few years several sub-basins of the Pannonian Basin have been explored with detailed seismic surveys and deep drilling (to over 5500m depth). Results of these studies indicate that potential hydrocarbon-bearing formations can be assigned to three sedimentary megasequences deposited in depocentres of different size, depth, genesis and structural style.

Hole-to-surface seismic reflection surveys for shallow coal exploration
Authors J.E. Kragh, N.R. Goulty and M.J. FindlayOpencast coal mines in such a densely populated country as the UK are mostly of small size by world standards, but they are highly profitable. Annual production of opencast coal is currently about 17 million tonnes, constituting some 20% of the UK coal industry's total output. Transport costs are low as the coal is produced for domestic consumption, and consequently open cast coal is a very important national resource.
