Abstract

1 E025 Non-conventional Exploration Targets Serranía del Interior Foothills Venezuela Summary A non-conventional play concept within a thrust-and-fold belt was identified within the Late Paleogene interval in the foothills of the Serranía del Interior Eastern Venezuela Basin. This play is the combination of delta-front facies deposited as part of an Upper Oligocene lowstand prograding wedge folded when deformation affected the area in the Lower Miocene. Hydrocarbons might be trapped up dip where the deltaic sands shale out not necessarily in the culmination of the structures as traditionally they were drilled.
