Abstract

P316 T-05 Computation of Dips and Azimuths with Weighted Structure-Tenser Approach Summary 1 Structure orientations (i.e. dips and azimuths) computed from seismic data without picking is useful for interpretations and derivations of other attributes. Structure-tensor method has been used to compute the structure orientations with good computational efficiency and flexible resolution. In this paper we show that applying the non-weighted structure-tenser approach may yield abnormal dips. To overcome this problem we use the instantaneous amplitudes of complex traces as a weighting function. Real data examples illustrate that such a weighting function can produce more consistent and interpretable dips and azimuths.
