P702 3D Multiple Prediction Analysis Abstract 1 A multiple prediction analysis tool to investigate the 3D nature of multiples is presented. Analysis of the 3D characteristics of multiples generated in simplified geological settings can lead to a better understanding of the predictability of the multiples in field data. This information can also be used to optimize acquisition layouts in areas with similar geological settings in terms of streamer separation cross line spread sail line spacing source configurations and azimuth distributions. The analysis can provide insight into the optimum strategy for interpolation and extrapolation of data during processing. Furthermore 3D multiple
