Abstract

A18 SEISMIC-BASED RISK EVALUATION AT HYDROCARBON RESERVES ESTIMATION 1 Summary. This paper highlights a technique used to assess geologic risk associated with different type uncertainties in estimating the hydrocarbon reserves. We consider uncertainties caused by structural mapping inaccuracies uncertain values of oil/water (gas/oil) contact depths and reservoir capacity parameters used in estimating hydrocarbon reserves. Our technology is based on stochastic simulation and permits quantitative determination of the risk degree and estimation of possible range of hydrocarbon reserves within potential areas explored with seismic and well logging surveys. Introduction. There are many aspects of risk ensuing from uncertainties of oil and
