Abstract
The Putumayo Basin is located in the South western of Colombia (total area of 29.000 km2) and continues into Ecuadorian Oriente Basin. In Colombian territory, 395 MBO have been discovered and has yielded 305 MBO, with 105 exploratory wells drilled since 1948 with a success/failure ratio of 26.7 %. The usual reservoir levels are sandstones into the Caballos and Villeta formations (Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene).
