Abstract

Andean tectonics and interactions with the Caribbean plate resulted in complex combinations of
structural styles and sedimentation in the Cenozoic forearc basins and accretionary fold belts of northern
Colombia. Geologic and geophysical studies of this convergent margin have been integrated with research
on the development of the neighboring Andes to propose various hydrocarbon play concepts, which upgrade the
offshore prospectivity of Colombia.
