C16 SELECTION OF OPTIMUM THERMAL RECOVERY METHOD FOR A HEAVY OIL RESERVOIR OF IRAN Abstract 1 Thermal recovery is the most important enhanced oil recovery for heavy oils and the predominant mechanism of these methods is viscosity reduction. These methods fall into two classes: Heat injection and heat generation in reservoir. In this study various thermal recovery methods have been investigated and feasibility of these methods for an Iranian heavy oil reservoir with 17.5 API has been studied.
