Fixed Point Inversion of Geophysical Data

A new method for the solution of inverse problems is described that does not require either the<br>calculation of gradient matrices or their inversion. The method works by constructing an equation<br>whose attracting fixed point under iteration is the desired solution. It is demonstrated using a gravity<br>forward model and applied to an equivalent layer gridding problem.
