Abstract

Gravity surveying is an attractive technique for geophysical exploration
in urban areas because of its immunity to electromagnetic and seismic
interference. This paper reports an exploratory gravity profile which
has been conducted in the southern Windhoek municipal area to introduce some
undergraduate physics students to practical geophysics, and to evaluate the usefulness of
the gravity method for detecting targets locally relevant to engineering geology and
hydrogeology.
