Abstract

For some years, ground penetrating radar (GPR) has been deployed in a number of surface and
borehole applications. The early systems almost all used a short pulse illuminating a limited bandwidth
antenna, which in turn radiated into the environment under investigation. A similar antenna is utilised
for reception. This is the bistatic configuration of what is commonly known as carrier-less, pulsed
radar, or video-pulse radar.
