IA-5 ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATIONS OF AIRBORNE RADIOMETRIC SURVEYS Summary 1 Radiometric data have been collected during airborne surveys in eastern Germany and central Britain. Some of the range of environmental applications of this type of data are illustrated. In Germany the effects of uranium mining and processing are clearly shown including the dispersal of contaminants by the local river system. The results also reflect the possible use of mining wastes in construction with distinct radiometric signatures associated with built up areas and roads. The application of fertilizers is indicated by higher potassium concentrations in the airborne data that are supported by
