v 2 R λ = . In a vertical well traditional logging tools measure only the horizontal component of the R h resistivity or conductivity for these formations (Fig.1). The new multicomponent induction logging tool TM (3DEX ) provides all necessary data to compute both horizontal and vertical resistivities (i.e. Rh and Rv) for vertical deviated and horizontal wells. Thus this tool gives us the “tensorial” information about the spatial orientation of the different conducting parts of the reservoir (anisotropy).
