MILKEREIT Institute of Geosciences Geophysics Kiel University Otto-Hahn-Platz 1 24118 Kiel Germany Summary Computational power has advanced to a state where we can begin to perform wavefield simulations for realistic (complex) 3D earth models at frequencies of interest to both seismologists and engineers. On serial plattforms however 3-D calculations are still computationally very expensive.
